Kosovo's parliament adopted the law on prevention of money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism. At the hearing held without the presence of opposition, the bill was passed with 58 votes in favor and seven impartially.
The law, according to authorities, is closely linked to the program of Government for the years 2015-2018 for fighting terrorism and setting out the measures, authorities and procedures for detecting, preventing money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.
Authorities say that this law is very important in this period in terms of the fight against crime, corruption, but also the prevention of financing of terrorism and extremism. Last year, Kosovo adopted the law on the prevention its citizens to be part in conflicts abroad, while Kosovo is also part of the international coalition to combat violent extremism and terrorism.Since 2012 Kosovo has been faced with the first cases of Kosovars going to Syria.
