35-year old Greek killed by Albanian Police in Gjirokastra; Greece's Ministry reacts immediately

 More than five hours of fear and horror has been experienced by the inhabitants of Bularat village in Gjirokastra, after a 35-year-old Greek citizen, Kostandinos Kaçifa shot with his Kalashnikov gun at first in the air and then toward the police.

Everything started at around 10 o'clock in the morning when were commemorating through annual celebrations the fallen of the Italian-Greek War.

"All Greeks of Northern Epirus are invited on October 28 to send a message to everyone ... Greece or death." this is what hi wrote on his facebook profile some days ago, as he appears posing with the flag of North-Epirus, it appears that the young man has warned the tragedy while threatening with his message.


He may be part of the right-wing extremist political organisation Golden Dawn that hates Albanians, this is what this picture suggests, were you can see the flag of Golden Dawn behind his back.

Kostandinos Kaçifa shot with Kalashnikov, initially in the air, and then in the direction of police officers while approaching to him to put him under control.

The shootings have caused only minor material damage to the police vehicle, as well as to a flat in the village center.



It took the intervention of the special forces RENEA to neutralize the 35-year-old madness. 

Kaçifa shot also against RENEA with his weapon. 

But in his confrontation with the RENEA special forces, he was killed.

While the reaction of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs was  immediate.

"We were informed of the murder of the young man. We are following the developments with the Albanian authorities. Condolences to the death of the Greek homogeneous. Inadmissible the loss of a person's life in any circumstance. We express our regret for the death of the Greek citizen, condolences to the victim's family. We expect the Albanian authorities to fully clarify the circumstances in which the Greek citizen was killed and then we will take the appropriate measures immediately ", is said among other things in the response.

Full Statement of Greece's MFA:

"The Greek authorities, in contact with Albanian counterparts, have followed closely from the first moment the development of the episode in the village of Bularat, Albania, where the Greek citizens appear to fire Kalashnikov against the Albanian police vehicle, while the Police sought his arrest. Shortly before, we were officially informed that from the shooting confrontation with the Albanian police, Kostandinos Kaçifa remained killed. We express deep pain to the death of Greek homogeneity, and condolences to his family. In any case, it is unacceptable the fact that an operation came to the point where we lost a man. We expect from the Albanian authorities to fully clarify the conditions in which the Greek citizen lost his life and we will perform immediately the right actions", reads the reaction of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
