Drastic reforms in the justice system and police are necessary to restore the trust of ethnic Albanians on the institutions.
This was said by the deputy prime minister for the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, Musa Xhaferri during a visit that he’s holding in Berlin where he has met with German state authorities.
In the meeting with Christof Heusgen, political adviser of the German chancellor, Xhaferri has expressed his concern about the latest developments in FYR Macedonia and the priorities that this country must have.
“The representative of the German government expressed his interest about the measures which must be taken to build up trust among communities, to which I replied that the use of Albanian language, proportional allocation of public funds, investment in infrastructure and allocation of funds for the Albanian culture would restore trust on institutions. The key domains that we must address are the justice system and interior affairs. These two domains must undergo reforms in order to restore trust on the citizens and at the same time, guarantee transparency in order to improve the representation of Albanians”, said Xhaferri.
He said that the priority of BDI (Democratic Union for Integration) as part of the governing coalition is NATO and EU integration and the immediate solution of the name dispute with Greece.
“Heusgen told us that Berlin supports the accession of Macedonia in the NATO and EU. He said that the solution of the name dispute and cross ethnic relations are the two main priorities of the official policies of the German chancellor”, said deputy prime minister Xhaferri. /ibna/
