The Supreme Court of Albania has decided to reduce the sentence given to the head of the "Criminal Gang of Durres", Lul Berisha, by sentencing him only to 25 years in prison.
According to the verdict, the crimes were committed during the years 1998-2000 and he has to be sentenced according to the laws of that time.
During those years, the premeditated killing was sentenced to a maximum of 25 years in prison.
Also according the Court and the judge Tom Ndreca, at the time when Lulzim Berisha committed those crimes, the concept of criminal organization wasn't even mentioned in the law.
The Supreme Court also decided to sentence to 25 years in prison Indrit Taullain, another member of the gang.
