At the request of Tirana prosecution office, the first instance court gave the form of custody for 7 people charged with stealing Bank of Albania. In the closed-door session with each of the suspects, the court decided that Petrit Ramohitaj, Liljana Tusha, Lavdim Cani, Myzejen Belba, Dhimitër Davidi, Bashkim Xhilaga and Kleves Bejtaj to be remanded in custody.
In total, there are nine people suspected of stealing State Bank (SB). Eight of them are employees of the Bank of Albania, and the ninth is a relative of the prime suspect, Ardian Bitraj. The investigation began on July 21 when the Bank of Albania denounced both its employees, Mimoza Bruzia and Ardian Bitraj, initially said that the amount stolen was 600 million (new lek) but after inventory, SB, announced officially on July 29 that lacked 713 million or 7.13 million dollars.
