The government has spoken for the first time about the scandal that happened in the Central Bank, where several people stole almost 7 million dollars.
Through a press release, the government calls it a very serious crime and a huge challenge for the justice system.
"The prosecution must investigate the case and punish all those responsible", the press release reads.
According the government, this case is also a big challenge for the authority and the security of the Bank, that has to make sure that something like this won't happen again in the future.
“This is also a huge challenge for the Parliament and the government, that must analyze and know what happens in the central bank and make tranparence", the statement reads.
The Council of Ministers says that 2014 was a good year for Albania, because the country got the EU candidate status.
“The status was gained bacause the government is determined to fight crime and corruption and to strengthen the independence of institutions", it says, "and the bank of Albania is one of them. That is why today, by understanding the public concern, we think it is important to have a full investigation of the case and all those responsible to be punished. We are following the work done till now by the prosecution and the State Police", the press release reads.
