The premiere of “Dawn,” the latest creation of the international troupe Hodworks and the winner of Rudolf Lábán Award, as the most outstanding work Hungarian contemporary dance piece of the 2013 season, will be performed in the venues of the National Gallery of Art on Tuesday at 19:00.
The premiere of the daring piece of “radical research” by Hungarian choreographer Adrienn Hódin will be performed for only one night by the dancers Emese Cuhorka, Júlia Garai, Csaba Molnár and Marcio Canabarro.
”Dawn” comes as part of the 9th edition of “Albania Dance Meeting Festival,” initiated and directed by Gjergj Prevazi.
The dance piece focuses on naked body, which is dressed in sketches of muscle, the kneading of skin, the remains of contact, the reddening of skin.
As a bold and radical work, it requires an extraordinary level of awareness, strength and sensitivity of the performers, as it expected by the choreographer Adrienn Hód.
The Hodworks troupe was established in 2007 by Adrienn Hód. Alongside permanent creative members, artists are also invited to co-operate with this international contemporary troupe.
It is a creative group that is based on independent artistic creativity with great degree of concentration and a sensitive and provocatively fresh approach.
At the centre of their work is a body free of all obstacles, intermediaries, decorations, props, and theatrical devices. Performances are always headed in an unknown, new, progressive direction and are the result of complex research based on improvisation, which they re-invent in performance within a carefully planned structure.
A Hodworks performance dilates the senses and the spirit of the audience; it tempts them, but is never aggressive.
