The New Customs Code has come into effect as of January 1. In addition to others, the new customs code is aimed at clarifying the procedures either for Economic Operators (Businesses) or for Customs Administration through improvement, streamlining of rules and customs procedures. It also focuses on harmonizing the decision making, more efficient customs procedures as well as unification of a number of rules and approaches which have been so far applied case by case.
The code defines actions which guarantee transition into a paperless electronic environment for customs as well as provisions to incorporate customs procedures for Authorized Economic Operators, (AEO), including centralized clearance through customs.
