For three consecutive days Tirana will be the city of faith, the land of peace and religious harmony. Peace, religious tolerance and dialogue will be the subject of 28th International meeting for Peace that will be held in Tirana on September 6, 7 and 8, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the end of the war in the Balkans. This special event is organized by Sant'Egidio Community in cooperation with the Episcopal Conference of Albania, Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania and the Albanian Government, as main Albanian media reports.
For this purpose was held today at the Ministry of Youth and Social Welfare regular meeting of Interstate Committee, which was chaired by Minister Blendi Klos and attended by representatives of Sant'Egidios, religious communities, State Police and many representatives of other institutions.
In the event "Prayer of Peace 2015" are invited to participate over 4000 persons, among them world heads of religious beliefs (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Muslim, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Sikh, Buddhist etc), from Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Iraq, Israel, India, Russia, Indonesia, Cyprus, Japan, China, Australia and many other countries from Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Political personalities are also invited to attend this special event, historians, philosophers, international development experts, representatives of academia, journalists, theologians, writers etc.
The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Palace of Congresses followed by the second day with various panels about international developments. Through dialogue and peace promoting we oppose violence with concrete and feasible proposals, these themes will be discussed in panels organized on the occasion of this event.
Concrete proposals will come from countries in conflict, such as Syria, Iraq, Nigeria, Mindnao (Philippines) and Libya. Youth activities will enrich the event with the theme "There is no Future Without Peace." The third day will announce the Appeal for Peace in the whole world, where each participant is invited to sign. Planting the first tree of Peace by all heads of religious beliefs will end the event.
