Albania-Germany have an agreement on pension recognition rights of Albanian migrants  Around 15 000 Albanian migrants working and living in Germany will be getting their pension benefits and contributions, according to the Agreement on “Social Protection between the Republic of Albania and the Federal Republic of Germany” signed by Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Blendi Klosi and Permanent State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on Wednesday.

After the signing ceremony, Klosi underlined that a large number of Albanian citizens working and living for many in years in Germany will benefit from the social protection agreement.

“This is a happy day for all Albanian migrants in Germany. The agreement will enable mutual recognition of the pension rights by both countries,” Klosi said.

German State Secretary Asmussen highlighted that today’s agreement marks a huge step forward in economic and social cooperation.

“This agreement in concrete terms has to do primarily with the calculation of the social insurance payments by employees, either be they Germans or Albanians. Put in more specific terms, if an Albanian, or German employee works for a period of 5 years, 2 of them in Germany and 3 in Albania periods of social security will be calculated on his claims for retirement,” Asmussen said.

During the meeting, Minister Klosi and German State Secretary Asmussen also discussed the possibility of further cooperation in the field of vocational education, as one of the government’s top priorities.
