In the light of initiative “Car-free Tirana,” the municipality of Tirana organized on Saturday the activity “Bicycles for children.”
Tirana mayor Erion Veliaj, at a media briefing, while taking part in the activity “Bicycles for children” said: We are happy that Tirana municipality has hosted several activities in the light of car-free Tirana initiative.
This day is entirely dedicated to the children, he said.
I want to inform the citizens that as of Sept. 22, the city center will be off limits to cars at the small bypass from 06.00 am to 22.00 pm. We intend to make available more spaces for youths and children. Beginning Sept 22 the citizens will have the opportunity to bike freely.
Tirana mayor also spoke about the future investments such as increasing the number of cycle lanes in our city.
I feel good to see so many children joining this activity today. We need more cycle lanes because Tirana is a city which offers spaces for all. New investments are needed in this direction, but the biggest investment should be concentrated on culture, Veliaj said.
