State Police representatives, OSCE Presence in Albania and local government authorities in the southern region of Gjirokaster are attending a meeting to discuss promotion of gender equality and the fight against domestic violence.
Among those attending the meeting were the Director General of the Albanian State Police, Director of the Serious Crime Directorate Ardian Çipa, head of the Regional Police Directorate in Gjirokaster Arjanit Arapi, Mayor of Gjirokaster Zamira Rami, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Robert Wilton.
A Serbian Police Delegation and representatives from the OSCE Mission in Belgrade also attended the event.
The meeting is taking place at the “Asim Zeneli” high school in the southern city, with discussions focusing on promotion of the fight against women and children and ways to raise awareness about the domestic violence.
“We are here today to discuss about domestic violence and raising awareness involves educating children and the adults through them. Statistic show that in most of the cases domestic violence takes place between adults, but you can help in the efforts to fight this phenomenon,” Çako said in his remarks.
