Regional Directorate of National Culture, Vlora, is preparing these days a complete documentation on "Written Cave of Lepenica", in order this object to be declared a Cultural Monument and protected by the state.
In the notification of the Directorate, accompanied with pictures of N.Bajrmaj, is noted that based on the unique value that represents the object, because of the damage had been done on prehistoric writings after 1990s, will soon be asked to relevant bodies the for this object to be certificated.
"Written Cave of Lepenica", located in the middle flow of Vlora river, 800 m above sea level, on east side of Lepenica mountain.
In Vlora assets are include also several caves, such as the written cave of Lepenica, is Grama cave with historical inscriptions on it, one of the hidden wonders of Vlora.
Although this object became known to scholars and visitors only after 1970s, it features 19 anthropomorphic figures of stylized people, 8 irregular geometric, which at its center is the figure of a man, showing a cult, a honor to man, from where it is thought that this painting dates at the end of 3 millennium BC.
Drawings realized with mineral brown paint and dating back to the third millennium BC, speaks and shows of a high Neolithic art level in our country.
"Written Cave of Lepenica" in 1930 is visited by Shtjefën Gjeçovi accompanied by compatriot from Vlora, Tol Arapi.
About Lepenica Cave many scholars have studied and written as Prof.Myzafer Korkuti Prof.Dhimitër Shuteriqi Dr.Shpend Bang, etc.
Meanwhile, Lepenica Cave, Residential Cave of Velça, Antique Amantias Cities and Olympia, Illyrian Castle of Cerja and Medieval Castle of Vranishti etc., talk about the continuity of life in these areas since prehistoric periods.
