Reshat Mati is the Albanian from Dibra who is "conquering" the world with his talent.
Experts value him as one of the best boxers in the world for youngsters.
Various famous world media have paid attention on him as "The Star", "LA Times", "New York Magazine" and "CNN". "I like the panorama, atmosphere, and everything in this country. It is my first time that I come here, I wont to come more often during the summer and hope to be here again. It's my city, I wont to come more often, but is very far away," he says to "TV21".
He confesses briefly about his career in the boxing ring.
"I had four and a half years when first enrolled in exercises. They said that I am good, I am very talented, but I did not know what to do. I knew only strike. For this reason, many children were scared of me," said the boxer.
Reshat still will not be part of the Olympic competition next year, even though has overcome all tests, because of his young age. He says he has influenced many youngsters to worship boxing and combat sports, avoiding the bad roads.
"Yes, I have many Albanian friend in New York. Most of them worship boxing, and ask me in which room to do exercises. I tell them to come with me and do the gym together. Earlier there were more from Russia, but now in New York has many Albanians," he says.
Reshat father, Adrian tells how he got the trip to America and what difficulties faced.
"I came from Macedonia in 1989, after I finished the military service. The economic situation was not good, there was no work and as all Albanians youngsters I got to live abroad, It was not easy when you leave to another country, without work, without papers. But the man must do everything to create a better life for his family," said the father.
Adrian says Debar visits will be more frequent because, as he points out, Reshat needs to learn Albanian. Given that sport is the best ambassador of a state, the eyes and hearts of all Albanians are turning towards Reshat Mati. His story has already begun, and according to forecasts, this would be a story with global content.
