Berat city |
A Japanese tourism agency has recently published a list of 30 most beautiful cities in the world.
The agency "JATA" introduced in his classification for architectural and cultural values the city of Berat.
This is not the only evaluation for Berat, which is in the list of UNESCO.On 8 July 2008 Berat was registered in the list of UNESCO by World Heritage Committee in the Conference held in Canada. Berat was praised as a rare example of typical Ottoman architecture. According to UNESCO Berat has witnessed the coexistence of various religious and cultures during the centuries. In the criterion 3 of the reason of the signing Berat in Unesco is written that Berat and Gjirokastra are a remarkable testimony of the diversity of urban societies in the Balkans and of the ways of living that today almost have disappeared. Criterion 4 says that the two cities, Berat and Gjirokastra, are a testimony of the various types of monuments and popular urban housing during the Classical Ottoman period. This is a very important rating to Berat which ranks thus among 600 countries of the world that are on UNESCO as a result of their Universal Heritage.
The classification of "JATA" is made on the basis of the proposals from 300 touristic agencies worldwide.
