A Magic Show of "Shok" Film in New York



On the eve of the Kosovo independence the Albanian Embassy in New York and Washington invited 400 diplomats to see the Kosovar film nominated for Oscar "Shok" (Friends).

This festive event, except activists and community representatives, was also attended by diplomats from the diplomatic corps at the UN, some US officials and friends of Kosovo, and the whole team of the film, INA news agency reports.

Eliot Engel, Frank G.Wisner, Jr., Ambassador of Great Britain at the United Nations, Matthew Rycroft, German and French ambassadors, were among personalities of this magical night.

In her speech, Kosovo Ambassador in Washington, Vlora Citaku, gave a special gratitude to Albanian-American community for Kosovo freedom and independence.
"Thanks with respect and deep gratitude goes to the United States and the American people for what they have done for the Albanian cause, for their help and support, without which we would never never be free," Citaku said.
"The film, made us feel proud. It has reminded us once again of the high price we paid for our freedom. Has raised the hope that there are beautiful and powerful things that can be made in a small country with many problems such as Kosovo. And has proven to us all that no dream is too big not, if we commit and work with heart and without deception," she said.

"Friends" film treats events of 1998s when Kosovo was surrounded by Police and a ferocious military regime, violence and unprecedented crimes used by Serbian authorities against the Albanian population, unarmed and defenseless.
He was received very well, so that finally the whole room got up, where there were tears but also applause, tirelessly and with many ovations, to the team implementing the film Friends.

The show of this film in the New York city, was to promote and received praise, a few days before the ceremony awards show to be held on February 28 in Los Angeles, where the film from Kosovo, reportedly is among serious pretends about winning Oscar.
