Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean countries (PAM) on its 10th anniversary has continued today in Tirana the discussions among the participating delegations from several countries.
According to official information by the Parliament, a session is attended by 250 delegates, including high-level representatives from various parliaments, the United Nations and other regional organizations. In this session is discussed about the current challenges facing the Mediterranean region, where the focus was on issues related to migration and the fight against terrorism.
The head of Parliament, Ilir Meta, in the framework of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly met today with President of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ognjen Tadić.Parliament official sources suggest that Meta expressed gratitude for the participation of the delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, noting the significance of the first organization of PAM's in a Balkan country.
Meta also met the Speaker of the National People's Assembly of Algeria, Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa.
This Assembly work on its first day is welcomed by General Secretary of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon via a video message. In his speech, Ban Ki-moon stressed that cooperation between the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Mediterranean and the United Nations has never been before so important, and encouraged countries to work together in the fight against terrorism and the development of an action plan for prevention of extremist violence.
The session of the 10th Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) which was held over two days and ended today, was attended by presidents, vice-presidents and members of parliaments from Albania, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Israel, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Libya, Syria, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, etc.
