In an interview for the French agency AFP, the Albanian Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, said that Albania seeks Italy's support for border control in order to prevent the flow of migrants towards it to reach Northern Europe.
AFP writes that Albania has had relatively few immigrants who have crossed the boundaries through their journey from Greece to Germany and Sweden.
According to news agency AFP, Albania is fearing an influx of immigrants because Macedonia closed the border for immigrants arriving from Greece.Minister Tahiri said that his Italian counterpart Angelino Alfano will visit the Albanian capital next week to discuss a joint response in the event of a mass influx of migrants.
In an interview given to AFP Minister Tahiri said that Albania is looking forward to "a general decision" at European level to deal with the crisis, but "in no case intends to open its borders to immigrants".
According to Tahiri for now the situation is calm and that police have increased controls and for the moment there has been no incidents in border crossing by immigrants.
