A Eurostat report shows that about 66 thousand Albanians fled the country last year. They comprise about 5 percent of all immigrants who have sought political asylum in European countries.
The figures reveal that the most sought destination is of Europe is Germany, in which last year are registered more than 50 thousand people.
"65 935 is the number of Albanian nationals who have sought asylum in EU countries during 2015", reads the latest report of Eurostat.Meanwhile, it is reported that in 2015, there was a record in terms of total number of applications for asylum, while figures have exceeded 1.2 million people. 1/3 of all immigrants were Syrians, while 14 percent are from Afghanistan. Next come countries like Iraq and Kosovo. Albania is ranked in fifth place, followed by African countries.
