Bank of Albania predicts that for 2016 economic growth to be 3.2 percent. The Governor of Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko invited to Voice of America, where he made a summary of economic developments. Regarding last year he said that economic growth was 2.6 percent and an important factor for this increase was the crisis in Greece.
We remember that the Bank of Albania and the International Monetary Fund has predicted economic growth this year to be to 3.4%.
Sejko held a meeting in Washington attending the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. Regarding the banking system in the country, the governor stressed that addressing the issue of problematic loans has been one of the main commitments of the Bank of Albania, accompanied by a well thought action plan to their reduction, which includes a number of legal, fiscal and regulatory improvements . He said that the implementation of this plan helped in reducing the level of problematic loans at 18.2% at the end of 2015.
