Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) has officially taken Wednesday AMAN Presidency, the organization of news agencies of the countries of the Mediterranean Sea.
The passing of the Presidency from the Egyptian MENA to ATA came during the second day of the 25th Assembly of News Agencies of the countries of the Mediterranean Sea, which is being held in Tirana.
The transfer of Presidency was made through a handshake between former President of AMAN, Tarek Abdel Ghaffar and director of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, Gezim Podgorica.MENA's director, Tarek Abdel Ghaffar wished ATA in its mandate and stressed that his agency will continue to support AMAN and will help the ATA in its Presidency.
"Let me reminded that I am very happy to be in Albania, a country that means a lot for Egypt. Let me first wish to ATA the mandate of Presidency of AMAN, because it is a very important for our agency to ends its mandade successfully," said Tarek Abdel Gaffar.
The director of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, Gezim Podgorica guaranteed maximum effort, and requested further institutionalization of relations between Mediterranean Agencies.
"We often exchange information between us. The communication routes are varied, but has come the time to institutionalize these relations even more by further intensifying inter-institutional cooperation. I know that Albania is a small country and there is little information, but we will try to be as fast and accurate in our news related to the common interest and I wish this news to be reflected in your media," said Podgorica.
