A group of 15 Polish and Albanian archaeologists, after excavations carried out in the city of Shkodra for nearly 10 years, have revealed new facts about this city.
Expedition leader of archaeologists in Shkodra says that life has existed about 5,000 years ago, this is proved by their lifestyle and objects found.
"Prior our excavations, the story said that Rozafa is the city center. We need to oppose this, as the entire city was the center of Shkodra. This is revealed by the way of living, technology, social life and everything that we could find. Life in Shkodra has existed since before the Bronze period, about 5,000 years ago ", says Professor Piotr Dyczek from the University of Warsaw.
Archaeologists bring to the public at the exhibition presented at the NHM a 3D view, photos from elements found in the excavations, the most interesting are the Venetian pots. In these pots are found seventeenth century coins, while excavations are powered in a whole new way."We use a non-invasive way to dig, because the geographical scope of Shkodra is complicated. We need to delve into more than 7 meters in depth, which is difficult. Therefore, this new way of excavations give us views of the Shkodra of the last 5,000 years. I think that is the first time that this technique is used here in Albania," said Professor Dyczek.
Albanian archaeological excavations of Poles is expected to continue every year in the months of April-May, untill 2020.
