Kosovo Olympic Committee has revealed today the names of 8 Kosovar athletes who will participate in the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.
Majlinda Kelmendi and Nora Gjakova from the sport of judo; Musa Hajdari and Vijona Kryeziu from the sport of athletics; Lum Zhaveli and Rita Zeqiri from the sport of swimming; Urata Rama from archery and Qëndrim Guri fromcycling will be this year's Olympians who will represent Kosovo in the first Olympic Games to be held in Rio, Brazil.
Kosovo was accepted as a member with full rights in the International Olympic Committee at the end of 2014.President of the Committee, Besim Hasani has described this a historic step for Kosovo.
According to him, from 8 Kosovar athletes, Majlinda Kelmendi and Nora Gjakova have Olympic rate while 6 others are there by invitation.
Majlinda Kelmendi will carry the Kosovo's flag in the parade of athletes participating in the opening day of the event.
While Kosovo mission chief in Rio, Eugen Saracini said that have informed the athletes about anti-doping issues and Zika disease, which according to him is a concern in Brazil.
