Former Romanian President Traian Basescu said Bucharest might use its veto to prevent Serbia's membership in the European Union, if Belgrade does not fully respect the bilateral agreement for the protection of the rights of the Romanian minority in Serbia.
Basescu said that Romania "has at trump card" for not ratifying Serbia's EU membership, even after the completion of the pre-accession negotiations, reports Vojvodina portal.

This requirement is articulated by representatives of the Timok Romanians province, in Mureshului, a traditional gathering of Romanians outside Romania
"We want Serbia to join the EU, but we want also that we realize our fundamental rights: to have schools in the Romanian language, liturgy in the Romanian language and the press in the Romanian language," said Predrag Balasevic, vice president of cultural association of Romanians and Vlachs in Serbia - Adriane Filum.
