US Vice President, Joe Biden, took part Wednesday in the inaugural ceremony of a street name of his deceased son Joseph "Beau" Biden. The road that will keep that name leads to Bondsteel camp of several hundred US troops continuing to serve within the peacekeeping forces led by NATO in Kosovo. In an emotional ceremony, Biden recalled the time when his son served in Kosovo as a legal adviser in 2001. He died last year at age 46.
Biden said when his son had arrived in Kosovo had fallen in love with this place and thanked the institutions for the decision, that the road leading to Bondsteel Camp to hold the name of his son, the road they walked together in 2001.
"Maybe I remember most this trip to the hill, which became a monument of KFOR and America's commitment for the freedom and independence of Kosovo," he said, noting that it is the intention of his family to meet the goals of Bo Biden."We know that five, ten, twenty, sixty years later, my grandchildrens and great-grandchildrens, every Biden will travel to see the monument of his father, grandfather, great-grandfather, who believed in Kosovo," he said.
"I believe that you not only can, but will also build a free Kosovo, democratic and progressive society that will fulfill the dreams and hopes denied for a long time," said Vice President Biden.
This will be one of the streets that bear the names of American personalities, a form in which is expressed the gratitude of United States support for Kosovo. The US role is considered indispensable in all political processes.
