Macedonian Academy of Sciences claims that Mother Teresa is not Albanian.
The president of the academy, Taki Fiti, formerly finance minister, said he had been fed by official political propaganda of Tirana, which claims that Agnes Bojaxhiu was an ethnic Albanian.
In a speech at the Academy of Macedonia, Taki Fiti said that Mother Teresa was born in Skopje and she is not Albanian, adding that her father, Nikolla Bojaxhi is a Vlach Macedonian and her mother, born in Skopje, is halve Macedonian and halve Albanian.Macedonian agency MINA says this will not stop Tirana's Mother Teresa claims.
"Had it not enough that Mother Teresa comes from a mixed ethnicity, she did not see herself as belonging to anyone specifically, but to all", says the agency.
Taki Fiti says that these Albanian claims he takes personally because he by himself is a Vlach-Macedonian by ethnicity.
