Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, is in the United States where he is helding meetings with senior officials at White House.
At the meeting held in the White House's Roosevelt Hall with Trump's Deputy National Advisor to National Security, K.T. McFarland, the parties discussed the consolidation of US-Albania strategic partnership, especially in the areas of long-term interest for the security and well-being of both countries.
An important part of the discussions was the recent developments and security challenges in our region, as well as the principled commitment of Albania in this context. McFarland said that the United States strongly supports the strategic partnership with Albania.Minister Bushati focused on "the need to coordinate efforts to consolidate the Euro-Atlantic orientation and to improve the security environment in the region in response to factors aimed at destabilizing the Western Balkans by hindering the course of transformative reforms."
In this context, McFarland reaffirmed the strong US support for implementing reforms in the area of Rule of Law and in particular our efforts to implement justice reform," the reforms she considered vital.
In the wake of the Global Coalition against ISIS held in Washington in March, a special emphasis was placed on strengthening co-operation in the fight against terrorism and measures taken by our country to prevent and combat extremism.
McFarland praised Albania's active role in the fight against terrorism within the Global Coalition against ISIS, our country's contributions to NATO missions and operations at the southern and eastern borders of the Alliance, as well as the specific weight of Albania in the framework of regional cooperation.
During this meeting was expressed the willingness to deepen a more profound cooperation in line with the needs of Albania and the region./Oculus News
