US Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, described the statements made around the possibility of joining Kosovo and Albania as careless relating to Great Albania.
"The US government supports the sovereignty of both Kosovo and Albania.
We oppose the neglectful speeches of unity and the excessive reactions to such declarations that undermine the stability in the region," Delawie said in a statement to Radio Free Europe.
His reactions comes after an interview by Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama to Politico portal in which he said that "the open path towards European integration and the clear perspective are the only way for the Balkans stability. but if this does not happens, then small unions may created. After that, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci told to Radio Free Europe that "if the European Union closes the door to Kosovo, then all Albanians in the region will live in a single space."On the other side Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic appealed to the Albanian political representatives not to come up with statements for all Albanians in the region to establish a common state if the European integration process is stopped, transmitted Beta.
"We beg, I repeat, we beg to them that such statements should not be released to the public, because they do not contribute to good relations in the region nor to creating an atmosphere of cooperation and joint work on important projects," Vucic said at the press conference in the Government of Serbia.
Meanwhile, EU High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Maja Kocijancic told to Radio Free Europe that "the Western Balkans has a clear perspective and that's why we work along with our partners in the region on the principles of Reconciliation and regional cooperation."/Oculus News
