The Albanian and Turkish archives, after the introduction of 57 registers, which include valuable documents for Albanians during the Ottoman Empire, are expected to start a co-operation at hight levels. On this occasion, the General Director of the Turkish Archives came to Tirana, where he met with his Albanian counterpart.
"The Turkish director promised to help me collaborate with Turkish archives and mortgages. The good thing is that they have all digitized them. I believe that this is of special importance and we are eager to have them and to be part of our archive fund," said Gjet Ndoj, General Director of the Albanian Archives.
Turkey's General Director of Archives warned that a group of experts will soon arrive in Albania, who will support the launch of the important digitization process. Starting with the Ottoman ones, which will then follow with all the other archives of the State Archives."I think we can do a preliminary work, bringing to Tirana an Ottoman and Arabic language team. This team that will come to Albania will inform the director here and me about a safe and important job, the status of these documents and the way they can be rehabilitated or brought back to life," said Ugur Unal, director of General of the Archives of Turkey.
According to the two senior archive directors, these are only the first steps that will be followed by paving the way for a new level of cooperation, including other investments in Albanian archives./Oculus News
