The 24-year-old Mikel Shallari is the killer of the former police commissar Artan Cuku on Aprill 8 2017 in Tirana.
The news was announced on Sunday during a press conference by General Director of State Police Haki Çako, who announced the arrest of Mikel Shallari.
"After an intensive work of the State Police structures, in cooperation with the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office, and in the assessment of the information, forms and methods of police and science, but in coordination with international partners, on June 10...Mikel Edmond Shallari, born in 1993 in Skrapar and resident in Tirana is the killer," Çako said.Intensive work continues on the full legal documentation of this event," he added.
Asked by journalists, the head of the State Police claimed that the executioner is a person with criminal precedents.
Securing the family members of the murdered commissar for a comprehensive investigation into this issue, Çako also said that he is also working on the arrest of other associates at the event.
"The evidence gathered up to this point is considerable based on the Criminal Procedure Code. We continue to work on the full documentation of the collaborators," he said.
The Prosecutor of the case Enrik Ligori, attending the press conference, said that we already known the killer, but the reasons for the crime are still unknown and who stands behind this story.
"We know that the hand that has pulled the trigger is Mikel Shallari. Who is behind this, we can not say for sure. We know the killer today. Who stands behind him we don't know. May be Shallari or someone else. We are investigating," the Prosecutor said. But, he added, Shallari continues to deny involvement in the event.
