In an interview for the Croatian media Vecernji List, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci spoke about the relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the possible tensions between the two countries after the parliamentary elections in Kosovo as well as in relations with Croatia.
Among other things, as this media writes, President Thaçi commented on Russia's role in Kosovo and the region.
Among other things he spoke about defining Kosovo in the fight against Islamic radicalism and terrorism."Kosovo has created a political culture with very good organization of elections, which have been accepted by all political parties and the international community. And in this election campaign, all political parties have shown a high culture of debate, based on concrete programs and offerings. No matter who will form the government after the elections, what we now know is that it will be a government directed towards NATO and the EU, which is the only orientation of citizens and politicians in Kosovo. "
Meanwhile regarding the relations with Serbia, Thaci has said that Kosovo and Serbia are two independent states.
"For five years, we have a dialogue on the normalization of relations between our two countries. In 2013, we reached the first agreement on resolving peace and disputes between us after a century of conflict. Dialogue between our two countries has no alternative," said Thaci.
However according to him unwise actions such as the one with the train and the wall in Mitrovica, no longer exist.
"As for the military, each independent state has its own army. And Kosovo will have its own army, which will be a professional force according to NATO standards, a multiethnic force serving the Kosovo citizens. The Armed Forces of Kosovo will contribute to strengthening peace and stability throughout the South East Europe region. In fact, a threat to peace and security in the Balkans are the Russian bases in Serbia," said among others President Thaçi for Vecernji list./Oculus News
