Albania and Italian authorities revealed important facts about some mafia families in Italy.
A few days ago, in connection with the investigation of a criminal group suspected to have trafficked cannabis from the Vilun Valley to Italy, the Albanian Prosecution requested the arrest of these citizens: Renato Çaushi, Andrea Mita, Kasem Piluri and Altin Rramolli.
The Court imposed on them the security measure "arrest in prison" as suspected of international narcotics trafficking. For the sake of the same investigation, in 2014, seven other people were arrested, who tried to smuggle an amount of 780 kg of cannabis. They were tried by the First Instance Court and are sentenced with prison. The investigation showed that these persons and others, for which at that time there were no complete data, had prepared trafficking from Albania to Italy (Sicily) of sequestrated narcotic drugs.
From data processing of the Italian authorities, the Albanian Prosecution provided sufficient evidence that this group was responsible for at least two loads, with a total of about 3.5 tonnes of cannabis, which were sequestered by the Italian authorities in March and April 2014. In Those two operations of the Italian police, the quantity of narcotics was found in two Italian fishing trawlers, who secured the narcotic substance from the Albanian group recognized by the authorities as "Viluni" (based on the area where the first persons are arrested).
Mafia Families
The Prosecution for Serious Crimes is continuing the necessary procedural actions on account of this investigation.
Sources near the prosecution announced that during the period during which investigations were conducted, important information was received regarding three criminal groups operating in various territories of Katania in the field of narcotics trafficking.
It is about members of the Moraboito family who carried out their activity in the populated area of "Picanello" neighborhood, the Nizza family, which ran the activity in the "Libriono" neighborhood and the Saita family.
Members of these families supplied these neighborhoods with cannabis sativa, independently of each other, from the same Albanian supplier./Oculus News
