Ermal Meta, born in Fier, moved to Bari, southern Italy, at the age of 13, along with his family.Meta debuted as the guitarist of the Italian band Ameba4, who competed in the section 'Newcomers' at the 2006 Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Rido ... maybe I'm wrong", included in their self-titled album, released in February 2006.
In 2007 Meta became the frontman, lead singer of La Fame di Camilla. Their debut album, simply titled La Fame di Camilla, was released by Universal Music in 2009.
