The Attorney General of the Italian Antimafia, Franko Roberti talked today about the situation of drug trafficking from Albania to Italy.
He proposed the legalization of light drugs as a move to combat criminal trafficking groups.
Invited at the National Organization of Italian Judges congress, Franco Roberto, said "light drugs have invaded the country, causing victims, as happened in San Marco, Foggia province, the mainstream of light drugs trafficking from Albania."Relating to this issue, he said, "we have asked to the Italian government and parliament an inevitable solution; Or we must unite all the forces to fight the smuggling of light drugs, or to give to the state the monopoly of production and sales of light drugs, recognizing the lack of moral value of its users. The objective of the state of affairs is to fight criminal powers and not to coexist with them. "
Roberti explained that "the involvement of law enforcement has reduced the traffic of heavy drugs in the country, while light drug traffic has increased significantly regardless the commitment of all."
"The legalization of light drugs would be a serious blow to criminal clans", he said.
"The state should produce and sell light drugs of better quality and at competitive prices than those trafficked by criminal clans.".
