The concern of organized crime of Albanian origin in Rotterdam brought in Tirana a high level delegation.
As the United Kingdom Embassy of Netherlands in Tirana reports, "a senior delegation, otherwise known as the Rotterdam Triangle for Public Order and Security, headed by Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, will come for an official visit to Albania, from 2 to 6 November 2017 ".
But according to the embassy's announcement, part of the delegation, in addition to Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, will come also the heads of Rotterdam law enforcement institutions."Rotterdam Police Director, Rotterdam Chief Prosecutor and Royal Naval Aviation Director will also be members of this delegation," the announcement says.
The risk of re-establishing the visa regime for Albanians created a stir in Albanian politics during the summer months when a report by the Amsterdam police asked the Parliament to discuss this issue after numerous cases of abuses of Albanians in traveling to the Schengen area.
The focus of this visit will be the fight against illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings and organized crime. The arrival of this delegation in Albania aims to adress the disturbance that Rotterdam citizens and authorities have towards the rise of criminality originating from Albania.
Yesterday, the Dutch delegation held a meeting at the Police Academy with Albanian authorities and non-governmental organizations operating in the area of security and the fight against organized crime.
The purpose of this visit, according to the Dutch Embassy, is to understand the situation in Albania as well as the factors that push Albanian citizens to dangerous roads of illegal immigration. Together with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Netherlands and Albania are organizing an information campaign on this issue..
