The closing of the talks in Crete between foreign ministers of Albania and Greece, Ditmir Bushati and Nikos Kotzias, has not only brought the reaction of the Albanian opposition, but also of its Greek counterpart.
In an official communication, the New Democracy party points out that the joint statement of the two ministers does not refer to any concrete conclusion and that the only thing that emerges is that the chiefs of diplomacy of both countries will meet again this time in Albania.
In the statement, the opposition reminds Minister Kotzias that should answer the questions that were asked by New Democracy before the the negotiations."Has the Foreign Minister agreed to discuss the non-existent issue for Greece, the Chame issue, which the Albanian side constantly poses?
How does this package works, with all the complex issues that relate to Greek-Albanian relations, which are completely different in their legal and political nature?
What about other issues like the Maritime Agreement, minority rights, military cemeteries and the irredentist content of Albanian textbooks?
Are these considered interlinked by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs? The progress in one of them will affect the evolution of the other and how? ",
At the end of the statement, the New Democracy party underlines that because the issues are very serious and critical, expects responsible responses from the Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, it is not excluded for Kotzias to face a request for interpellation by the opposition, precisely in order to uncover details about these bilateral talks..
