With 69 votes in favor, the Macedonian Parliament has adopted the law on the recognition and use of the Albanian language as an official language in the Macedonian institutions.
There was no opposition or abstention in the vote, as VMRO-DPMNE MPs did not participated in the votting process. The voting process is scheduled to take place a few days ago, but in the absence of the presence of MPs, entered in the agenda for today.
The debate on the newly adopted law started in September 5 in the Assembly Committee for European Affairs, while in November last year it was approved by parliamentary committees by the majority. The adoption of the Albanian language law is already one of the most important steps Macedonia has done for the Albanian population living in the neighboring country, and an important step towards strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
