Albanian and Greek government delegation meeting |
The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has delivered a speech to his nation that after the meeting with his Albanian counterpart, Edi Rama; he is ready to sign a strategic agreement with Albania and said "Ok" for Albania to open negotiations with the EU.
In a statement from "Maximos" palace, Tsipras said he has managed to solve the problems with its two northern neighbors such as Macedonia and Albania.
"I promise that in the coming years I will pursue with a patriotic responsibility an acceptable solution from both sides. Given that this is the responsibility of the Greek government and mine, I can say that we have achieved an important role as a leader in the Balkans. "Tsipras said that for talks with neighboring Albania, he met the President of the Republic and the leaders of the political parties and he has paved the way for full normalization and improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
"We are ready for a strategic deal with Albania. An agreement that will resolve the critical differences and lead to our vote for the opening of the accession negotiations of our neighboring country in the EU," the Greek Prime Minister said, adding that there is a consensus among all Greek political parties to normalize relations with Tirana.
"This is an important example of how to do foreign policy in neighboring countries, where for strategic issues there are no divisions and attacks between the majority and the opposition," said the head of Athens Government.
