Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Nenad Rikalo, hosted yesterday a meeting with the World Bank Manager in Kosovo, Marco Mantovanelli, with whom he talked about further cooperation within the Project for Agriculture and Rural Development (ARDP) of the WB, through which investments in the agricultural sector will reach the value of € 20.8 million.
Minister Rikalo thanked the World Bank for the support they gave so far for the development of the agricultural sector in Kosovo, as well as their commitment to many important projects in this sector.Expressing readiness for further cooperation within the continuation of the WB Agriculture and Rural Development Project, Minister Rikalo stressed the need for this support to be extended to different sectors of agriculture, thus further developing of the agriculture in Kosovo.
On the other hand, BB Manager, Marco Mantovanelli, praised the up to date developments in the advancement of the agricultural sector in the country and reaffirmed the readiness of WB for further support of the agriculture and rural development sector in Kosovo through concrete projects within the framework of the continuation of the project for this sector.
He has shown that through this four-year project, amounting to EUR 20.8 million, aims at advancing a competitive, productive and sustainable agricultural sector.
Both agreed that the current project success for Agriculture and Rural Development, implemented by MAFRD and WB, should be the basis for deepening mutual co-operation.
Last year the Government of Kosovo signed a financial agreement with the World Bank on the continuation of the Agriculture and Rural Development Project for the next four years.
