Albanian parties, the Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA) and the Democratic Party (DP), have stated that in the presidential elections they will support PDS candidate Milo Đukanović.
In the press release of the DUA said that the Central Council of this party decided to support Milo Đukanović because it is a guarantee of stability and progress of Montenegro.
"DUA and PD build their partnerships since 1997 and this decision is a natural continuation of our cooperation so far. Also, in the upcoming period, Montenegro faces numerous challenges in the path of achieving European and Western standards. To achieve this, it needs stability and progress, and the best guarantee of stability and progress of Montenegro is Djukanovic," the press statement states.The Democratic Party also supports Đukanović's candidacy as a credible coalition partner.
"Đukanović is our old coalition partner. We are convinced that he personally is a guarantee of Euro-Atlantic integrations, the very good relations with the countries in the region and the multiethnic democracy in Montenegro," the party said.
The Albanian Alternative (AA), a party that operates mainly in the Highland area, decided to support the ruling coalition candidate at the state level, Milo Đukanović.
"Đukanović is a guarantee of good relations in the region and a guarantor of multiethnic democracy in Montenegro." In this regard, Djukanovic has contributed to the improvement and strengthening of good relations between Montenegro with Albania and Kosovo." As another reason AA emphasizes "the full realization of the Municipality of Tuzi in Highland, which was a multi-year claim of Albanians in Montenegro."
The new Democratic Force (NDF) also supports M. Đukanović's candidacy for president of Montenegro. This party was agreed to encourage all party infrastructure in the shortest possible time so that Djukanovic could score well in the first round.
Montenegro's president is elected by direct and secret ballot for a five-year term. These are the seventh presidential elections during the multiparty system in Montenegro since 1990. Since 2013 the President of Montenegro is Filip Vujanivic, who has been serving is this function for three consecutive mandates.
