Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attacked Kosovo Prime Minister on Saturday because the latter opposed the deportation operation of six Turkish citizens accused by Ankara of supporting the plot of coup.
President Erdogan at a rally of the Party of Development and Justice in Istanbul said, "The Turkish Intelligence Agency, in an operation in Kosovo, seized and brought six of these top FETO representatives to the Balkans, but I have a sadness: The Prime Minister of Kosovo fired the head of intelligence of Kosovo and Interior Minister. I now ask the Prime Minister of Kosovo: Who ordered you to undertake such an action? Since when you started defending those who tried to fist the state of the Republic of Turkey?" quotes the Turkish news agency AnadoluHe said that Haradinaj should "pay" for his actions.
On Friday, Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj fired the Interior Minister Flamur Sefaj and Chief of Intelligence Agency Driton Gashi. On Saturday, he called the Security Council after which said has requested the investigation and reporting of security and justice institutions to this case, and reiterated that it was not at all informed about the actions of the institutions.
There was no immediate reaction from the Kosovo government relating to the attack of the Turkish president.
Turkey is a supporter of the independence of Kosovo and one of the investors who controls the main companies in the impoverished country, including the only airport in the country and the power supply system.
Experts and international analysts have often pointed out that through investments Turkey is trying to extend its influence in Kosovo and other Balkan countries.
