Prime Minister Edi Rama attended today the Annual Conference of the Israeli-American Committee on Public Affairs in Washington DC, saying before 18,000 peoples that the rescue of Jews during World War II is an excellent page of our history but not the only one that relates to relations between Jews and Albanians.
During his interview, the head of the government stated that during WWII, Albanians, regardless of religion, have sheltered the Jews, cutting off an interesting episode from history.
According to the prime minister, during the Second World War, one of the highest Nazis, Hermann Neubacher, in 1943 called four representatives of our four religious committees and asked them to give the list of Jews and the gold list they had, but they gave to the Nazi the gold, and not the list of the Jews.
