The Senate and Congressional Representation in Michigan honored Mr. John Kelmendi for his involvement and contribution as a teacher in Southeast Michigan community. Mr. Kelmendi has been a lawyer dedicated to students throughout his career at public schools in Detroit and is involved in local community groups.
He started his career at public schools in Detroit in 1993 and secured a reputation as a dedicated teacher who invested in the success of his students.
Mr. Kelmendi initially taught social studies at "Pershing High School" and became the head of the social studies department in 2003.In this role he staff helped the colegues to manage the teaching in this department. He also served as a trainer to observe and evaluate other teachers.
Mr. Kelmendi's work at Pershing resulted in significant improvements in academic achievement. Mr Kelmendi's period as a community teacher and activist was critical to improving student achievement and creating a culture of perfection in the social studies department.
As a result of his work, he received the Achievement Award from the Detroit Public Schools and was given the gratitude for his passion for teaching.
He has been active in the community, serving as a member of the School of Detroit who helped creating and improving the collaboration between the public school community in Detroit and Detroit residents.
Mr. Kelmendi went up and beyond what was expected in a classroom and community, and his efforts are worthy of praise. For all these, Mr. Kelmendi was honored by the Congress and the Senate for his work as educator and community work.
