On April 20, the selected Israeli pharmacies will begin selling cannabis recipe products. Twenty pharmacies will take part in the pilot program for arranging marijuana medical sales in Israel, the main component of cannabis reform in the country, led by the Ministry of Health and approved by the government in 2016.
According to the Health Ministry, 900 cannabis entrepreneurs have already applied for permission to raise and process cannabis since the reform was initially on the move.
Getting a medical cannabis recipe in Israel had traditionally been a long and complex process that required a doctor's recommendation and the approval of a special committee. Those who have a prescription can only buy medical cannabis in certain dispensaries. With the implementation of the new reform, Israeli doctors will be able to prescribe cannabis-based medications, which will be sold at regular pharmacies. The Ministry of Health will serve as a regulator for the thriving Israeli cannabis sector, overseeing the growers, processing facilities, distributors and pharmacies. Israel intends to regulate cannabis pharmaceutical products under the same strict rules regulating the pharmaceutical industry, which includes labeling rules, food endurance, and active ingredient concentration. If successful, Israel may be the first country to standardize cannabis medical products.
The value of the Israeli cannabis industry depends on whether the government will decide to legalize the export of medical marijuana.
The industry has predicted an announcement since the 2016 marijuana adjustment reforms began. In February, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered re-estimating the economic potential of cannabis exports. The decision for legalization lies in him.
In August 2017, an Israeli parliamentary commission estimated that cannabis exports could increase Israel income of about $ 1.1 billion a year.
