Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Dardan Gashi, who is also a Minister of Diaspora and Strategic Investments, hosted a delegation of the Trevali company, a company focused on the mining sector, in particular on zinc.
In the presentation of this company, Mark Cruise, who is president and CEO of the company, told about the operations they currently have in Canada and Africa, and are now interested in the Kosovo mining sector.
"From the presentations we saw in the PDAC Convention where you were present in Toronto, we were interested in this sector in Kosovo, and as the 8th largest zinc manufacturer in the world, we specialize in the old mines and we have revitalized and made them worthwhile. Based on that, our overall budget exceeds $ 1 billion." Cruise said.Gashi informed the delegation from Canada about the changes to be made to the Law on Strategic Investment in the Mining Sector so that it is even better for big companies coming to Kosovo with serious projects.
"We are improving the legislation. Now in the mining sector we will have what is called a one stop shop, while for companies qualifying as a strategic investor with legal changes we will also remove some additional barriers to making the process even easier and more advantageous." Gashi said.
Today and tomorrow, the delegation, accompanied by the Canadian government officials, will visit the mines in Kishnica, Hajvali and Artana in order to become familiar on investment opportunities.
