State Secretary for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko met on Saturday with representatives of the Albanian Diaspora in Melbourne, where is concentrated the largest number of Albanians.
During the conversation, was discussed about the reforms that the Albanian government is undertaking regarding the treatment of Albanians abroad.
Majko informed the participants about the content of recently adopted laws, the "Diaspora Law" and the Law on the National Diaspora Agency.While emphasizing the importance of the inclusion of the Albanian language in the school curriculum in Albanian living areas, Majko requested the cooperation of Albanian associations and other community members in organizing regular annual activities where the Albanians would meet.
The Minister spoke about the plans to set up a cultural center in Australia, in cooperation with the Government of Kosovo, with which the expenses will be shared.
"Both Tirana and Prishtina faced a delicate evidence regarding how they will be coordinated for the Diaspora," said Minister Majko, who explained in detail the agreement on a joint publishing center based in Pristina and branches in Tirana .
Representatives of the Albanian community in Melbourne expressed the pleasure of the visit of Majko and offered to help maintain the Albanian culture and identity for the young generation.
