Albania will soon have three airports. In addition to the existing Rinas Airport in Tirana, the country will have soon the Kukes airport in operation as well as that of Vlora. Also, the government is assessing and building an aerodrome in Gjirokastra.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced at the end of toda's government meeting, responding to the media's interest that the choice of Vlora to construct the new airport is not intended to discriminate against Gjirokastra but is a matter of economy and potential."First, this is not a question of discriminating choice or avoidance, but issues of account. Vlora has different economic potential than. There is another investment potential and return in Vlora and another Gjirokastra. What I can tell you is that we are in dispute and we will not normally build two airports, but we are considering the possibility and the building of an aerodrome in Gjirokastra. But always after a well-acclaimed economy account, as soon as our country has three airports, Rinas, Kukes will soon be in full operation and we will build the Vlora airport, would be luxurious for Albania to build another airport in Gjirokastra."
