The Albanian-born singer representing Cyprus, Eleni Foureira, has been qualified for the finals and Cypriot Finance Minister Harris Georgiades said that if Cyprus wins Eurovision, he will 'open' the state coffers.
Cypriot Minister's statement came after Cypriot debates that if they win Eurovision, the country will not withstand the cost of organizing this event next year.
Betting companies predict that the 31-year-old Albanian, Eleni Foureira as a contender for winning Eurovision 2018. Cypriot minister said his 10-year-old daughter is the fan of the singer representing Cyprus."I hope to succeed. Regarding the concerns, I would like to say that the financial part is not a problem. If we win, we will open the vault and this is not something that I say often. As other states have done with the organization, we will do the same," said Minister Harris Georgiades.
Azerbaijan holds first place for more spending on organizing Eurovision in 2012, where they spent 54m euros for the construction of the Crystal Hall. The festival is attended by around 180 million viewers from all over the world, and the benefits for the country that hosts it are enormous, as apart from promoting the state there are a large number of tourists visiting it.
