The dean of Human Sciences Faculty, the chief of the journalism department and 1 pedagogue of Elbasan's "Aleksandër Xhuvani" University have been arrested by the police. 3 relators and 1 student have been also arrested, all accused of corruption.
The operation codenamed "The Dean" was successfully completed by the Specialists of the Sector for Economic and Financial Crime Investigation at the Local Police Directorate of Elbasan in cooperation with the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office.
Within this operation, after a few months of special investigation was made possible the arrest of these citizens:1- Albert Riska, 55, resident in Elbasan, the Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at "Aleksandër Xhuvani" University, Elbasan.
2- Elvira Lumi, 54, resident in Elbasan, head of the Department of Journalism at the Faculty of Human Sciences at "Aleksandër Xhuvani" University, Elbasan.
3- Erjola Calja, 29, resident in Gostime Cërrik, lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at "Aleksandër Xhuvani" University, Elbasan.
4- Petrit Kodra, 53, resident in Elbasan, in the role of the Realtor.
5- Admirim Kala, 31, resident in Tirana, in the role of the Realtor.
6- Adem Ngjela, 51, resident in Cërrik, in the role of the Realtor.
7- Marius Calja, 21, resident in Gostime Cërrik, student.
Their arrest was carried out based on Decision No. 315, dated 08.05.2018, of the First Instance Court of Elbasan, which has assigned the "Arrest in prison" for the criminal offense provided by Article 245/1 / 2 and 259 of the Criminal Code, "Exercise of Illicit Influence on Persons Performing Public Functions" and "Passive Corruption of Persons Performing Public Functions".
The persons arrested in co-operation with each other by abusing with their public function exerted unlawful influence on the role of the Relator and Pedagogue at Elbasan University "Aleksandër Xhuvani" for receiving good grades for the students during the exam season in exchange of money.
The investigations are ongoing for the detection of other persons involved in this criminal activitry.
