Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, during a two-day visit to the Vatican, is received in the Closed Audience by the Holy Father Pope Francis.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Haradinaj informed the Holy Father of political developments in Kosovo, the European and Euro-Atlantic path, highlighting the fact that Kosovo is an example of coexistence among peoples and religious tolerance.
"Kosovo is an example of religious tolerance and peace promotion. Our Euro-Atlantic path is strengthened with the strategic partnership with the Vatican.I expressed to his Holiness Pope Francis the dedication of our citizens to preserve spiritual and democratic values in the spirit of the common good," Haradinaj said.
The prime minister praised Pope Francis's expectation, saying that Kosovo and its people will be thankful to the Vatican for their support for the past decades, and also expressed the commitment of the state of Kosovo for a strategic partnership with the Vatican.
"My visit to the Vatican and the meeting with Pope Francis is a great honor for me and the people of Kosovo. I used this honor to convey the greetings and best wishes of the people of Kosovo to the Holy Father, Pope Francis, to the Holy See, for the Vatican and the desire to establish permanent and strategic relations," said Haradinaj.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Haradinaj has conveyed to the Holy Father, a gift from the people of Kosovo, a letter of request for acceptance, recognition and care of Kosovo.
"I was impressed that the Holy Father, Pope Francis was truly human, with an extraordinary warmth, he said: I have the in my heart the people of Kosovo," said Prime Minister Haradinaj.
Highly praising the reception in the Vatican, Prime Minister Haradinaj stressed that treatment and reception with such respect is a testimony to deepening relations between the two countries.
"He gave the blessing for Kosovo a blessing that was touching not only for me, but for all of us, a special feeling. I felt honored and I really felt respectable today," said Prime Minister Haradinaj.
He expressed his happiness and gratitude that Kosovo has built friendly relations with the Holy See.
"Tthis relationship is very important to us. The Vatican, as well as the Holy See, is a member of most international organizations, such as Interpol and other organizations. I am deeply convinced that in our journey as Kosovo, the Vatican will feel us. I am convinced that the Holy See will feel Kosovo."
The meeting with Pope Francis was made at the residence of the Holy Father in the Vatican in a closed audience, in the framework of Prime Minister Haradinaj's official visit to the Vatican, which aims to establish strategic cooperation and recognition of Kosovo's statehood by the Holy See.
